Post Mortem

Walkthrough

There are two stages of any single walkthrough of the poster. First is the menu screen, on which you can click on either the heart or the ellipse to trigger the next stage. This second and final stage is the poster, on which the selected shape will be centered behind the main title. On both of these stages, the background hearts, can be pressed, which makes them a pinkish white and slightly bigger. This effect can be used as you press the mouse and drag along as well as it uses a mouse is pressed event.

Note: to go back to the menu refresh; if change the window size while it has already loaded, refresh to fill the window

Design Goals and Process

I at first wanted to have something that was highly interactive. My vision was to have many hearts covering the screen, and the player would then click on each one to "pop" them. Once the screen was rid of hearts, it would trigger the poster screen. Another idea I had had was to have the player draw something on the screen, and when they pressed a "done" button, a poster page would appear with their drawing integrated into it.

However, my rudimentary understanding of p5 and what it could do led me astray and to many confusions multiple times. In fact, knowing I was familiar with it at first misled me so much that after days of trying to push through it, I had to fall back and watch some Coding Train videos to learn from scratch. Of course by the end of it, I had less time, so I came up with a synthesis of my 6 ideas (I'll spare you all 6) and decided on what is now the interactive poster.

Had I more time and less technical difficulties, I would've liked to implement a "go back to menu" button, more animation,  more shape options, and potentially a pre-menu stage, utilizing the idea of popping hearts to reveal the menu.
